Will my periods be just as irregular if I switch to the implant from the progestogen only pill?

For eight months I was on the progestogen only pill, since I cannot take medication containing oestrogen, however I experienced long and irregular periods that were just too much to deal with so I stopped taking it. Since then my natural menstrual cycle has resumed and I am considering my next form of contraception, I'm seriously considering the implant. But it occurred to me that both the POP and the implant contain the same hormone, so would I still have a high chance of endless periods and spotting? Would there be any difference?

Unscheduled bleeding is a possible side effect of all progestogens. Yes the hormones are similar, its not a given that you would experience the same problems, but its also possible you might. Have you considered an IUD or IUS ?

I cant answer your question about different contraceptive. For me first 6 months of bleeding on pop only were odd and when i bled for 3 weeks I stopped taking it for a week and allowed my body to bleed as I felt that is what my body wanted to do. I bled for further week approx 4 weeks in total then started taking the pop again and have not bled in 2 years

Had a 2 night mini break away last year and forgot to bring them with me. I was worried that I would un do it all and start bleeding again and I didnt. But take Cerrelle this has a 12 hour window to take too.
