I’m just starting the pill. If I take my first pill on the first day of my period is it certain my next period will be on the 7 day break?

Combined pill and periods
Hi Muncho,
I'm assuming you've just started taking the combined pill (i.e. a pill containing oestrogen and progestogen)? If you are, and you count day 1 as the first day of your period, your next "period" will be in three weeks time. It is not a period as such, but a withdrawal bleed. It may not look or feel like a normal period; many report it being lighter than their usual period and others will notice bleeding starting maybe a few days after stopping the pill during this break.
In either case, don't be distracted by the bleeding being lighter or starting later- just stick to the seven day break and then open the next pack of pills.
Some 'first timers' get quite worried when they haven't bled (as much) as they expect and then stop taking the pill altogether until they see their period return. This is risky and increases the chances of an unplanned pregnancy.
If you want further advice, call your local sexual health/family planning service (Google) and request a telephone consult.
