After having a seven day break from the combined pill am I still protected? If not how many days will it be until I am?

Yes, you are protected during the 7 day break provided you start the next packet after no more than 7 days of not taking pills.

If you start the next packet later than this you need to allow a further 7 days for the pill to become effective again
