Hi Alison,

These appear to be ulcers - that is broken skin - some central pus areas with surrounding erythema ( redness ) . There are a variety of possible causes - not all of them are sexual health related ( drug reactions, bacterial infections etc ) there are various swabs that can be taken ( note not all GPs have viral swabs for things like herpes simplex ) You should probably seek some medical advice. Also a more comprehensive history needs to be taken ( first or previous episodes, medication , other symptoms etc )

I completely agree
