Combined Pill

Hi, I have been taking the combined pill for a month now and I am just on my first day of my seven day break. I know that I need to take the pill on the 7th day of the break and was just wondering when I would be protected. As in, do I have to take the pill for 7 days to become protected like when I first started or am i protected from the moment i start the new pack? Thank you :))
