Maternity rights and furlough at 28 weeks

Hello!

Does anyone know what companies are allowed to do regarding furlough when you reach 28 weeks? Can they furlough u at 80% or do they have to pay full pay?

I’m currently 26 weeks and my employer is just in the process of risk assessing me at work again as I’m in a public facing role and coming up to 28 weeks. I have a strong suspicion they are going to furlough me as they can’t guarantee my safety at work. Are they allowed to pay just 80% of wages or does it have to be full pay? The government website states that u should get full pay if it’s not safe for u to be at work and your role means u can’t work from home but doesn’t mention furlough. I originally intended on finishing in May.

Just wondered if anyone has been through this to get some facts before they discuss it with me?

TIA xx

I’m not too sure. My work put me on paid leave for 7 weeks and didn’t furlough me (but they didn’t furlough anyone). Could you speak to HR and see what they say?

Hope you get sorted xx

Thanks for your reply, from what I’ve researched I think they have to give full pay otherwise they are at risk of pregnancy discrimination, I should find out soon hopefully xx
