What to expect at a scan at just over 7 weeks pregnant- spotting.

Hi ladies.

I've had spotting in every pregnancy I've ever had so don't know why I thought this would be different!

My 2 chemical pregnancies I had severe abdominal pain with heavy gushing blood at 4 and a half weeks both I Knew it was gone. Once the bleeding began it got heavier unlike the spotting in my other pregnancies.

This pregnancy- I had implantation bleeding but nothing else until this week- it started with a tiny streak of blood in discharge. Now it's pink, Brown, red spotting. I say spotting as it's only when I wipe. I have no cramping. Pregnancy symptoms still strong.

I called the drs yesterday- it was so stressful- sent me away despite spotting in pregnancy- told to use e consult their new system of the e consult red flagged as I had to declare I was pregnant so I called again as I was advised to call drs or 111. The dr took 4 hours to call me. He then tried to get hold of early pregnancy unit several times-no answer. Probably called too late as they only open 9-12 ( or were prior COVID19) He told me the secretary to send the form off first thing Monday morning and hopefully get me booked one ASAP. Of course warned me of ectopic etc and to call 111 if I had pain or bleeding got heavy.

For me it's normal but I wish it wasn't. All my mum and hubby says it's you it's what you do. But I'm terrified. I can't go through another pregnancy loss.😥

I had an early scan with Francesca at 10 weeks and it was abdominal scan

What can I expect from a 7 week scan? Are partners allowed to attend? I hope they can as I'm genuinely terrified of scans after Amelia.😥 Xx

Oh Jess, the waiting around is unbearable and I feel your pain. I had a scan at 7w4d and 10w and both were internal scans. They don’t hurt you or the baby. Partners should now be allowed to attend, mine were private but nhs are allowing partners to scans.

Thinking of you xx

Hi I’ve always contacted the epu direct always got in same day. This time at 6w I self referred for a scan as I’d had 3 mmc, you have to go in alone for any scan other than 12 & 20w very scary when you’ve had losses previous. They try with abdominal but usually it’s trans vag at this stage. Sorry your going through this hope you get good news x

bless you, so sorry you’re going through this! If I’ve had issue I rang my community midwife or 111 to sort something out quicker! I’ve had an nhs scan and private this time and both my hubby was allowed in for!! My private scan was internal at 7weeks 5days and we saw baby and heartbeat! Fingers crossed you get sorted with this, so sorry you’re having this stress again! Sending so much love! Xxx

Hey Jess, your spotting sounds similar to what mine was several times up to 13 wks. I had a scan at EPU bang on what would have been 7wks and they scanned me transabdominally but before they started that did warn me that if they couldnt see what they wanted to they would scan me internally. I think places seem to vary. Once you get an appointment I would call them and ask if your hubby can go with you and explain about your previous loss and how anxious you are. I'm in Scotland and fortunately the rules are different here and we get to nominate one person to go to all appointments but I'm aware in England that may not be the case....still worth begging though!!🤞🏻 The fact that you arent in pain is a good thing. The spotting I had I didnt have pain, I was more aware of my pelvis are and back but when we lost our pregnancy spontaneously I had a great deal of cramping which just got worse and worse!! I've got everything crossed for you guys. Massive hugs, it's so worrying and stressful!xxxx

Thank you everyone. The bleeding got heavier but only when wiping. My head is totally mashed. I will phone 111 today had hope they can get me a scan. I'm so scared. I don't want to lose another baby 🥲 I will reply individually when my head is less smashed. I can't seem to hold on to a pregnancy 🥲 I don't know what is wrong with me xx

Didn't get far with 111 - my epu is closed weekends so unless I'm bleeding very heavily or having cramping I have to wait this one out. A and E very unlikely to scan. It looks like it is slowing down so I hope it is okay ☝🏻 I should be in a medically induced coma with my early pregnancies! Still feel mashed even the spotting stops completely still have a scan I won't relax until I've seen it is ok. 😫
