8 weeks - no symptoms at all. Will I ever be ok?

Hi all,

I’m 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow and have barely had any symptoms from day 1. The occasional sore boob that last about a day then goes for a few days, tiredness - but that could be quarentine and lack of doing anything really. Occasionally I have woken up and felt so hungry ive felt sick, this goes as soon as i eat breakfast.

I had my viability scan on Monday (7weeks 3 days) and all looked fine.

I cant help but worry the lack of symptoms is a bad sign and i’m going to miscarry 😔😭

Has anyone got any advice on what their early pregnancy was like? x

I had sore boobs, a bit of nausea but not very bad, it was worse on an empty stomach. And tiredness. Nothing too bad. Have you got a super sensitive sense of smell? I couldn't stand certain smells, especially coffee and cigarettes, and I could detect them a mile away!!

It's so hard at the beginning as you don't have a bump, don't feel any movement so if you don't have symptoms it's hard not to be anxious.

The Fertility Network is where a lot of people turn for support when something goes wrong so unfortunately you may get a bit of a skewed view from there about miscarriages and missed miscarriages and it makes you more anxious than you need to be - maybe stay away from that forum for a while?

I hope you can settle into your pregnancy soon and start to enjoy it (because when you do have symptoms, they're pretty rubbish!!) and feel less anxious, difficult as that may be in these strange times we're living in!

And, congratulations on your pregnancy!! xxx

No i dont think so. Literally nothing at all. Ive had an increase in watery discharge today, thats it.

You’re right .. i’m almost convinced im going to have a MMC and i think a lot of that is seeing the experiences of women on the group. It seems so common, as though everyone has had one on there. Its hard not to think this will happen for me.

I dont want to be a constant worry wart .. its just so hard to relax. Each milestone seems like years away.

Thank you for replying xx

I know symptoms can be reassuring but plenty of people sail through the first trimester without barely anything so try not to worry! The fact that you saw your baby just a few days ago and everything was fine is what you need to focus on ♥️

You haven’t lost any symptoms, you just haven’t developed any... yet!x

Petrified of going to next scan & finding out baby has just stopped growing xx

Honestly, even if you had symptoms you would still feel like that. The whole IVF journey makes us into these over worriers! I didn’t really start to believe it until I got past that 12 week mark and even now at 15 weeks, I still have wobbles and that’s ok. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you’ve been through a lot to get here and you’ve beaten all the worst odds, they are now all in your favour. Try and let yourself enjoy the fact that you’re pregnant at last, you’ve bloody earned it xxx

We announced it at 20 weeks and it felt a little more real at the time... but now I'm 36 weeks and it still doesn't feel like we're getting a baby at the end of it. I think this is an IVF side affect! All the best for your pregnancy 🍀❤️ xxx

I didn’t really have symptoms when I was pregnant. I probably went to the loo more and near 12 weeks I was constantly hungry but that was basically it and all was fine xx

Please don’t worry not everyone gets early symptoms every persons pregnancy is different I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks with my first pregnancy and suffered really bad with quite a lot of symptoms early on then with my second pregnancy which was fine I now have a LG I had no symptoms till Atleast 12 weeks so there’s nothing at all to worry about some people don’t know there pregnant till it pops out so honestly don’t panic everything will be fine xx

Hi Sunshine

I just wanted to say I was exactly the same! I had no symptoms at all so was convinced our treatment hadn’t worked so I was in complete shock when we got our BFP. I couldn’t speak about it and certainly couldn’t say the word pregnant even to myself for a long time!! I was so worried about MMC as it seemed that happened for so many that it was very likely.

However I had to keep telling myself that in actual fact its is still quite unlikely and so many more pregnancies are healthy so worrying wouldn’t change anything and why shouldn’t it be my turn! I came away from the forum for a little bit and just stayed in my little bubble counting down each day.

For the first 12 weeks I was just bloated (that continued from treatment so didn’t feel like a symptom) and constipated. I never had sore or larger boobs through the whole pregnancy, was never sick and I didn’t have any of the symptoms I’d looked out for for so long (metallic taste, heightened sense of smell etc!) but I now have healthy 8 week old twins!!

I’m not sure I quite believed it throughout the entire pregnancy, I was terrified at every scan that there would be bad news but eventually I became able to put the worries aside and enjoy the pregnancy just taking each day at a time and trying to feel grateful to get a day further on. I’m not saying it’s easy to do that but every day I told myself I was a day further than I’d ever got before so tried to focus on that.

I really wish you a safe, healthy pregnancy and that you’re able to enjoy it 🌈 xxx

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

Just to reiterate what the others have said, and hopefully offer some more reassurance, I had very little symptoms in my pregnancy. Up until I had the viability scan at 8 weeks I only had the occasional sore boobs and some cramping on and off. In fact, when I went for the scan I told them I hadn't had any symptoms so I was a bit anxious about it. Baby was fine and after that the only symptom I had was wanting to eat a bit more, and bloating from the pessaries. I didn't get heightened sense of smell, no sickness or nausea, no extreme tiredness or needing to wee more! Very lucky! Hopefully you are the same, but some ladies get their symptoms around the 8/9 week mark.

Good luck xx

Don't worry just count yourself quite lucky :) I only had sore boots in the morning for the trimester, had no sickness, wasn't put off any food I just felt extra hungry and more tiered so sounds similar to what your feeling. I conceived via IVF so I just saw it as I had the hard work to get pregnant and then i really enjoyed my pregnancy and have a healthy happy 4 month old now. Use this time to rest but still do your daily walk / gentle exercise. Don't worry, enjoy it and good luck x

Hey, congratulations!

I’m now 27 weeks and pretty sure I didn’t get any symptoms until I was maybe 12 weeks? Then it was just some nausea in the mornings, sore boobs and a bit of afternoons tiredness.

I was the same, worrying a lot, thinking “oh no it’s stopped working” but it’s so different for everyone.

I think the IVF community is used to a struggle and it’s like a hangover throughout.

Once I got nausea I liked it weirdly, as it was reassuring. If I had a day when I didn’t have it, I got worried. I’d also haha lots of nightmares about miscarriage and had to get up in the night and check ☹️

The only advice I can give is that no signs are a good sign, as in if you’ve not had anything to indicate things aren’t right then keep believing.

You won’t stop worrying but it will get more real with all the scans etc and though you may not ‘relax’ you’ll believe it more xx
