support claiming PIP

Hi does anyone know where i can get support to complete a PIP appeal? i probably shouldn’t have completed my claim independently as ive missed off a lot of detail resulting in no award. I assumed DWP would know how ASD affects daily living (i was wrong).

Hi rrao92

Citizens Advice might be able to help, they have some details here: citizensadvice.org.uk/benef... But perhaps also talking to someone at one of their centres and seeing what they say could help. (there's usually one in most larger towns in the UK).

Hope everything gets sorted for you ok :)

do you need an official diagnosis in order to claim PIP?

Theoretically, no: PIP is meant to be about symptoms that affect your life, not a particular diagnosis. In practice it can be hard to put together the required evidence without one though.

i just wonder if its worth trying without while I'm on waiting list for autism assessment

Yes - trying now doesn't prevent you from trying again in future, so it's worth a go. (Many cases are rejected unfairly and you may have to go all the way to tribunal to get an award anyway, so the earlier you get started the better.)
