I believe I may be on the spectrum due to the way I think and they way I do things, also people at work say that I’m quirky which I don’t know how to take but it’s stressing me out l, I’m really scared about the future, I struggle with social communication and socialising with people, I feel awkward and very shy please someone help what should I do ?

Just listen if you can’t talk and assure them you have been listening and maybe ask questions or not but not to stress listening is more important

Have you been to your doctor with your suspicion of being on the spectrum? Please try not to stress too much about this, even if you are on the spectrum you can still lead a very normal life. I recently got the diagnosis of having Autism at the age of 45. I've had 3 children and many jobs. I am questioning my diagnosis and have had a second opinion which came out that I wasn't on the spectrum but something isn't wired right in me. I would definitely speak to a professional about this if you feel so strongly.

It’s something you can have checked by a professional if needed. Other people finding you quirky isn’t a diagnosis of anything. If you’re worried about social communication not getting better than that is a concern you can take to your dr who might put you in touch with services that can help.

I’ve got a telephone assessment in January for adhd so I’m hoping I can get the help that I need in order to move forward with my life

Make a list of all the things you find challenging. My autism list was a4 one side, and ADHD list was 3 a4 sides.

Your assessment will include questions about frequency and also how it linked to your childhood memories of how far back your ‘issues’ go.

Make your list so that you remember what you want to say and include.

Thank you for that. I’ll make sure I make the list and include everything.
