After numerous referrals to the depression and anxiety service, my GP has finally listened to my request for a referral so I can get a formal diagnosis of autism/asbergers. The downside is that the waiting list is 18 months - can anyone recommend someone for a private assessment in the south west?

Any advice

Hi Lewisbear
My final assessment was last week and completed by a charity to whom I was referred by my GP. Is it worth getting in touch with your local ASD support groups or charities to see what they recommend as there may be a route for you without resorting to private and paying?
Good luck. Sam
I can't recommend anyone, but wish you success towards the right diagnosis for you.
My husband was diagnosed in May 2014 at age 43. Knowledge helps but doesn't change this condition.
sorry only just seen your post, you dont need to go private, find a service who supply the nhs and phone and check their waiting time I went to a private provider that offers service to NHS .....under the 18 week pledge if you cannot be seen you can request to go ANYWHERE so long as they serve the NHS ie have a service contract, the provider is up to you i found one with an 8 week wait who did private and nhs referal.
