Travel is not all about holidays.

There probably are several people on this site who have family overseas.

Our adult children all live in other countries and because of this pandemic we have not been able to see them for a very long time. My Ataxia always made travelling difficult but it was worth it. They have growing families, therefore now with the testing, quarantine hotels and the more expensive tickets, cannot afford the huge expense to come here and the borders in Australia, where one of them lives, are completely closed.

Travel is not all about holidays.

It would be nice to be able to go on holiday again, but I’m only too aware of current restrictions, and it must be very hard for anyone not being able to visit family who live overseas. I wonder, can you at least Skype until the situation eases..🙂

I completely understand klazien. We are the ones living abroad which means for two years I've not seen my daughter or mother or any other family members or dear friends. It's getting very hard and I try not to think about it, and stay in touch by phone and sometimes video calls. But I do find video calls tiring. It's holding the phone that's the problem.

I'm so hopeful that we can visit the UK this summer, if they decide to accept EU vaccination passports 🙏🤞.

My thoughts are with you as I think it'll be a while before you can visit Australia xx

I am a permanen resident here from the Netherlands and have lived here for almost 30 years. Our children and grandchildren live far away in other countries and I still have family in Amsterdam and Tel Aviv. We used to travel to them a lot but that is all over now. Lots of people must be in our position so when the papers keep on writing about the holidays it bothers me.
