What anaesthetic

Recently I had an operation which is normally performed with a general anaesthetic but because of my ‘late onset idiopatic cerebellar ataxia’, I had a local anaesthetic. I know that it can be dangerous to have a general anaesthetic with some kinds of Ataxias and mine is an unknown type so I wonder if my local one was necessary. Does anybody know this?

Thanks

I read it but don't remember where.

I don’t think anyone on here could know if necessary or not.

I do not want to be depressing and it was a few years ago now. My Dad died after a very routine operation after 11 days in intensive care. He had ataxia.

ALWAYS TELL YOUR ANAESTHETIST YOU HAVE WEAKER THAN NORMAL THROAT MUSCLES.

Everyone was very frightened of being sued but it was no one’s fault - they did not know so please tell them x

I told them about having Ataxia and also gave them the name of my neurologist so it could be checked. I don’t know if they did.
