Friday was Nice But

Day out with brother on Friday. Started off good with trip to Kielder, through to Hawick and Scots view......then

I woke up in the back of an ambulance🙄

Nothing serious, seems I’d suffered a number of blackouts.

Paramedics said my BP was high but not worryingly high, asked about my slurred speech, brother explained about that & my ATAXIA.

So all in all, they were happy for me to go home and see my GP next week.

As I’m typing this my brother has just arrived with fish & chips, bloody marvellous...👏👏

Stay safe, have a good one👍

Good to hear you are ok. I wonder what that was all about? At least you were able to eat the fish and chips

I am just about to watch the rugby and then I will go out and have a game. Ha. Ha. Ha. Wishful thinking

Cheers. Ted 🏈🏉🏈🏉🏈🏉🏈🏉

👍 Glad you’re ok John. It’s scary when you wake up in an odd place, I once went to bed at home, and woke up in hospital 🥴

It’s been absolutely ages since I was in Hawick (if anybody wonders..it’s pronounced Hoick 😉). And, ages since I had fish n chips , with plenty vinegar 😋 Today has been beautiful 😎 but I bought a scarf and gloves, just to be on the safe side 😉

I remember when I first visited Hawick (Kielder Reservoir). Same year I’d left the Navy, wasn’t in any hurry for a job then.

Anyway, I’d been driving for a while and came across this lay-by called ‘ScotsView’.

With a lovely caravanHotdogTeaCoffee SoldEverything in the lay-by.

It was next to a tall large upright rock with a metal plaque on one side with the word Scotland and the other side’s plaque with the word England.....

On the left of the good eats van was another large rock laying on it’s belly with a large oblong metal plaque with etchings of the hills and mountains in the North as you looked away from where you stood.

The etchings named all the hills/mountains also, it was so cool....

Anyway, the gentleman who served me, asked me where I’d been that day, I replied, Kielder, Jedburgh, Hawick (actually pronouncing it ‘Hawick’)....

I was instantly informed, quite strictly that it was not pronounced Hawick, but as you explained, Hoick😂

Then an amazing thing happened....

A coach pulled into the lay-by and all these Chinese tourists piled out of it.....Two minutes later the same gentleman who had just served and corrected me, appeared in full Scottish regalia, pipes & everything and proceeded to play his heart out whilst the tourists snapped away happily with their camera’s.

Blimey, I’m shocked I remembered all that, it was such a great day👍

I also stopped off at Hexham on my way home for something to eat in the evening...

It was a great day......

Sooo long ago😳

👍😂 You have fantastic recall..I’m jealous 😉 Wasn’t that a treat for the tourists...I wish I’d seen their faces when he appeared 😉

I suspect I’ve been to that exact spot myself..what I do remember vividly is going ‘up and down’ the Watling Street in the back of a motorbike sidecar..🥴 Thankfully I’m a better traveller these days 😉

This memory thing was explained to me by someone at the Hospital Clinic years back, short & long time things or something or other.

I can recall many events of my life in the Navy but virtually nothing of my schooldays/childhood.

The brain is weird piece of equipment🤔

Ahoy, sailor! Great to know nothing untoward from your experience and thanks for conjuring all manner of memories, both of camping in Hawick as a kid and where one gets the best fish and chips in the country.
