I would like some info. I have cerebellar ataxia. That means my cerebellum has shrunk. Will it keep shrinking until it's gone

Hi there

I also have SCA

Depending on what type you have depends on how your symptoms progress. It does worsen overtime but it’s different for everyone. I don’t think it shrinks to nothing but the cells don’t rejuvenate due to the protein buildup.

I’ve had 2 MRI,s and mine has degenerated over 6-7 years but they are always searching for a treatment.

Don’t dwell on it because it’s a downhill spiral if you do.

Take care B xx

We are all so different. It will carry on slowly but different parts will kick in for a while hopefully x

Ataxia IS progressive, although the rate of degeneration is different for everyone! Just always do the best you can and try not to worry about it!!! I've had ataxia for 20+ years and I'm still walking, with the help of a rollator or cane!..., ;o)
