I am desperate to find a Neurophysiotherapist for our son who has DRPLA (rare form of SCA).

We live in Essex, UK and are willing to travel to see the right person.

We tried getting an appointment through Prof Giunti, no luck there, our GP, same result...

We are desperate!

Many thanks,

Maja

I cannot help directly, hopefully someone here can. I did google search and came up with Neuro physiotheraphists but you may have to call them to ensure they can help appropriately, you may have already tried this of course. Ataxia UK has some info, general but I wonder if contacting directly might get an answer if none is found here? Some charities can give lists to help. Some cannot. Best wishes.

Thank you so much for your suggestions.

I will certainly follow those up.

I am still hoping for a recommendation!

I'm surprised Prof Giunti couldn't sort it for ypu. Try your nearest hospital. Hope you get sorted soon X

🙂 There are several links if you google Neurophysiotherapists in Essex, these are probably going to be ‘private’ but the advantage is likely to be an earlier appointment, because you could wait months for the NHS. But your GP really should be able to advise with this, since your son is entitled to referred on the NHS. Don’t be fobbed off.

I have been seeing a brilliant neuro pysio privately for about 20 years. Unfortunately she is in Hereford but she is in the Chartered Physiotherapists and they have a website x
