Which wheelchair?

Can anyone recommend the best wheelchair to suit my needs. I currently use a rollator outside. On walks it would be good to be able to have a light weight wheel chair which can be put in the car and which I can push and then sit in and either be pushed or manoeuvre myself for the rest of the walk. Am I asking too much to wonder if the chair could be electric or does this make it too heavy?

Loads of lightweight folding wheelchairs on eBay. They are power chairs

Ebay would be good.

OK obviously you know your needs but I will tell you about mine for ideas. I have a Karma Ergo 125.

My list of necessities essentials is -

foldable, (fit in car), self-propelling, able to brake (pusher handle brakes and wheel lockable) and washable seats,

I think all wheelchairs are hopeless on grave/level changes, and backwards always helps. I have a rather expensive addition which helps in fields called a FreeWheel x

Thanks Litty

We went to a mobility showroom yesterday and found all the features you recommended were features I also wanted so came away with the Karma Ergo. I want to be able to push it as well as sit in it so the handle brakes are essential. Look forward to being able to walk a bit further without worrying if I can make it back! x

That is great and even though it is good for me to walk with my walker I love being in my chair cos it is much more sociable and I can take the scenery in much more x

If you or your pusher get stuck remember try backwards x

Hi

I have a Foldawheel from Wheelchair88. It is easily foldable, electric, does 15 miles on one charge (2 batteries},. but is a bit heavy (23kg) and is made in Malaysia. I love it, but if I had to buy another wheelchair I wound choose one with a UK distributor, and a little more lightweight.

Speak to your GP as you may not have to pay for one. I broke an ankle and couldn't walk at all so the GP referred me to wheel chair services, they came to my house and checked things like door frames and me! They basically matched me to a wheel chair. I could have kept it forever as there was no stress on them wanting it back.

Hi I have a supascoota for travel goes in the boot, not too heavy. There is also a travelscoot light weight but more costly and a supachair combi.
