Hi All, would like some help, to see if some are like me, !!! I think , I have written and asked about this before, --- not sure !! I am beginning to think that my imagination runs away with me. ----- some times I can walk, carry a glass of juice from the Kitchen to my seat-- No Bother !!! feel NORMAL, nothing wrong with me ---- then I can go and do the same thing again !!! this time, it does not work, -- I cannot turn from the kitchen unit, nor hold my juice, and walk-- my muscles seem sore in my legs, and I have to trail my back against the unit, to a near by chair, then sit for about 5 minutes, then I stretch to get my glass, take two wobbly steps, put the glass down, then repeat, I have a small table just at the Kitchen door in the living room, I get the glass on to that, then wobble to my chair, then -- I am exhausted !!! and shaking, my feet are swollen, Neuropathy --- my feet feels like ice at my toes, but can't feel them, How can I do something simple, like I HAVE explained, --- then a couple of hours later, can't do it , Is it in my imagination ? sometimes I feel I am going mad

Lottiejemma.

You are not alone, it happens with me too, I make a cup of tea in the kitchen, turn away from the kitchen unit, step foreward and fall down because my body moved but my feet didn’t.

You say your feet feel cold.... do you have epilepsy..... I have epilepsy and it affects my feet, always cold and no feelings from calf muscles down, and no my lovely, you are not going mad.

We have to learn to live with our problem, I’m sorry to say!

That’s what I am like except for the pain bit. I like to cook but about 65% of the time the Kitchen sets my Ataxia off.

Standing, turning, moving, and picking up things.

I bash and nock them off other items in the cubed, drop things, nock things over and I start to get very confused and forget what I am trying to do.

When I drop things it’s a blank. I don’t know it’s happened until it’s on the floor.

What type of Ataxia do you have ?

Hi lottiejemma,

I said in my reply that I do not have pain. That was not correct.

The pain I am having I did not connect with Ataxia until I read more posts.

My back gets sure and my joints get sure.

But I am used it. It’s there most of the time.

Every now and then it does get very bad like the last two days. Then settles down.

Even with an Ataxia diagnosis it is important to ensure you have good B12 levels - around 500. Also test Folate - Ferritin - VitD as they too need to be optimal. I experience some of your issues when my next B12 injection is due ....
