I am sure they are much more aware today but back in 1995 they were not.
My Dad died after a routine operation. He aspirated twice in the operation recovery room. The anaesthetist had not realised that ataxian’s have weak throat muscles.
If anyone needs an operation please be sure the anaesthetist is aware.
Sorry to be depressing but I would hate someone to have someone die this way x

Thank you litty so sorry to hear the sad news of your dad. my hubby will likely to have to have lung op soon so that is helpful to know. He is usually very sick after op. Last time they were great with him he is high risk due to heart and epilepsy so that's helpful info thanks
The best of luck with the op and by the sound of it they keep a good eye on him. Dad dying was such a waste and I would hate anyone to have to go through that so worth reminding them.
