Hi everyone I have just joined. I am having lots of tests at Kings Hospital in London. They think I have a genetic ataxia and now are trying to diagnose the type of ataxia. I suffer a lot of fatigue, balance issues tremours in my legs, arms and have started in my head. My face feels numb. And my mouth quivers. Loss of hearing too. I get very down some days. And frustrated as I have to pace myself.

Hi, I have been Diagnosed with C.A for three years, WHAT I understand there are near 100 variations of Ataxia ie different symptoms etc and these symptoms types amounts are rising. I recently had a paralytic attack of my legs which seems unheard of.
As I understand hereditary and genetic are different but can overlap.
Hereditary is a trait ie mannerisms , facial similarities etc (things passed down by your parents) and genetic is a gene fault but they can be passed on by parents so they can be the same thing but are often mistakenly considered to be the same thing.
Dear Ruth, A HUGE welcome to this site! I have Sporadic Cerebellar Ataxia (unknown cause, progressive, symptoms 24/7) diagnosed thirteen years ago. Ataxia is very frustating, as well as challenging! My best to you..., ;o)
