Is anybody here taking part in the London walk next Sunday?

I just wanted to say "Hi" to anyone who is. I'm walking with my sister-in-law, nephew (15) and maybe my niece (17) too. Other than myself, all are fit and able, so if anyone needs any help, or just a friendly face to talk to, please say "Hi". I should be pretty easy to spot - rather tall (6' 4" when I stand up straight) and rumour has it that a kilt might be in attendance too Weather depending of course.

I will be there. I won't be walking though. A combination of my wheelchair and various fit and strong family members and friends will get me to the finish line!

I live in Lancashire and the weather forecast for next Sunday is dismal. However it looks good for Central London. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Looking forward to meeting you and entourage. It's great that so many of your family will be with you too. I'm actually getting rather excited about the walk. It's turning into a big family gathering.

And I wouldn't worry about the weather. Long-range forecasts are still a bit of a guessing game, and if there is going to be good weather in the UK, then it is most likely to be in the south-east. It's usually nicer down there.

Coincidently, I used to live in London when I was a bit younger (80s/90s). And I used to take visiting friends on just this walk (well, from the Houses of Parliament onwards anyway). Even then, the Southbank was the best way to see London on foot. This was in the days before the London Eye and Tate Britain (Bankside was still derelict then). And before the "wobbly" bridge to St.Pauls. A "wobbly" bridge? Quite apt now don't you think? Although, they sorted out the "wobble" soon after it was opened.

I' m in Essex this week, visiting my 4 week old grandson, and his parents. Normally in , Southampton, where of course the sun shines all the time!

Hi Iain,

Bit of a delayed respose but I was there too!

Great day, my children pushed me between bridges but I walked across them. It took us ages, we were the last people to arrive at the reception but we got there.

We are from Dudley, West Midlands and came down on the train, stopped two nights in Pimlico, fantastic weekend.

Sorry if I didn't speak to you on the day, it takes me so much concentration to walk that I often miss what's going on around me!

We were late too! A 10:30am meetup, for an 11:00am start - and we get there at 11:02 (Louise and her flippin' "shortcuts").

And I hear what you're saying about concentrating on just walking. I didn't see much of London either (fortunately, I lived there for 10 years back in the day, so have seen it before). I was too busy looking at a patch of pavement about 6 feet in front of me!

Yes Iain, of course I remember you, the kilt jogged my memory! I love all things Scottish, I lived in Denny, Stirlingshire during the 80's and was so sad to leave, it's a beautiful place... sorry, I digress. Anyway I've read all about your 100 Train Voyage and I think it's a fantastic that you are continuing with your lifelong ambition dispite 'Pesky Ataxia' trying to spoil it all! You have such a positive attitude which is what, I believe all Ataxians should try thier hardest to hold on to. The key is to push yourself as far as your body will go, without breaking it!? I felt very shaky at the begining of the walk but during and afterwards, I felt great. Just could do with a little more encouragement sometimes. Mustn't grumble... things could be worse, I guess?

Denny? Small world. Used to have friends in Sauchie - they even dragged me out to Sauchie (Miners' ) Club once.

Yes, that's the key. Do what's still possible - but always making sure not to overdo it.
