I have had, on two occasions now, such excruciatingly painful muscle spasms in my stomach and upper abdomen - the last just last night which lasted around an hour. Does anyone else suffer this? I know that muscle spasms are a symptom and I'm going to go and see if my GP has any bright ideas but it would be useful to have some anecdotal evidence!

Muscle Spasms
My husband had muscle spasms for years, they got so bad that he could not lie down. They were worse when he went to bed, he use to cry with the pain. The doctors tried all kinds of muscle relaxers but the side affect were bad. He was then sent to Oxford hospital and they fitted him with a bacolfen pump, this sits under the skin and gives you the muscle relaxer straight to you veins. It's the best thing he has ever had no more side effects and no more muscle spasms and gets a good night sleep.
So don't give up there are things that can help but you have to fight for them
Good luck
I use Baclofen in tablet form (correct speeling) to relax muscles which were cramping painfully. Taken orally after meal. A side effect is dizziness which all health professionals were most concerned about. Relief is worth side effects. Was on quinine.
Thanks for the replies! I went to see a GP yesterday (unfortunately not my own which means that half the appointment was spent explaining the background) and he was loathe to prescribe anything as the side effects could be unpleasant so he wanted to see if it reoccurred and how often.
Besides this episode, I get regular cramps in my feet and my jaw (of all places!).
I used to have quite bad neuropathic pain in my legs that felt like someone was ramming hot poker through my feet but Amitriptyline sorted that!
Guess I need to try and get in with my own GP who knows the story!
Hi, sorry replying a bit late as see you have already been to the drs. I had painful stomach cramps (seemed to be in my intestines).I also take baclofen in tablet form. Last app I saw a different neurologist who said it was a side effect of the baclofen - I have reduced my dose to 1 tablet per day now (10mg), was formerly on 4-5 tablets, and my stomach (intestinal cramps) have disappeared. I do still have some pain in my very lower intestine which i am now trying to remedy by taking aloe vera orally. I've only just started with that so I don't yet know the results.
I know baclofen is for reducing these cramping pains but it can also cause it too.
