I don't go on the AtaxiaUK website much (sorry!) but I just visited it and saw these posters. I think the idea behind them and the posters themselves are great. Just saying. And is it wrong that every one made me smile?

The invisible 10,000 who demand to be seen
Hi wildone
I am glad you liked them and there is nothing wrong with smiling at them at all. Can I ask though what it was in particular about them that made you smile?
Best Wishes
Harriet
Agreed. I prefer those 2. They are all good mind! Are they downloadable?
Dear Wildone, They are brilliant and the sayings made me smile! The faces are exactly the way ataxia makes me feel! ;o)
They are brilliant - where are they going to be used? Is there a advertising campaign planned?
Maybe I should give the website address to my new GP as his face was a complete blank when I met him for the first time and he asked why I was in a wheelchair - I replied Ataxia SCA6...
D'you think it was a trick question John, or maybe he had
a mental block after looking at your notes
Keep smiling xB
He said he not received my notes from my previous surgery. Even when I menntiontionned Professor Chinnery from Newcastle R.V.I. it did not ring any bells with him
I don't know why but I felt guilty all the time he was asking questions. It was as if I was wasting his time.
I know one thing, hell will freeze over before I go back.
It's a funny old world
I have heard it said that it can take months for Notes to be
forwarded on, in this day and age!
Can you get in touch with your previous GP, just to ask if
the Notes have actually been sent on?
Give him the benefit of the doubt this time, not every GP
has a good bedside manner
During my recent stay in hospital, I had a mixed bag of
treatment from Staff. But, one Nurse stood out head and shoulders above the rest, she was wonderful!
Such is life, every now and then you discover a gem! xB
Excellent posters. Now we just need to get them up in GP offices everywhere.
Is there any way to get a few posters so we can approach our own GP?
Great posters.
Nobody has responded to Wyndham`s question about anyway to get some posters ordered, so that we can get them put up in our Doctors Surgery`s.
C`mon Ataxia UK
The posters need to be seen, not everybody buys newspapers these days.
But, most people visit GP surgeries. xB
Hi all
I apologise for the delay in answering the question' can the posters be downloaded?'
The answer is yes. The Ataxia UK office is sorting it out and will have a link soon where the posters can be accessed and downloaded. The link will be put on the website but I will post it here as soon as it is available.

You might be interested to see the new episode of Wobbly TV, which is a short film all about how and why Ataxia UK did the poster campaign. It's on YouTube, here:
I just watched it. The video and posters are brilliant xB
Just received email from Ataxia concerning wobbly TV with episode 5. Bit slow isn`t it. seeing as it is already on the website.
Hi John
The poster campaign and the background to it have been on the website since April 7th when it was officially launched. However wobbly TV episode 5 was only released today (the episodes are made but then have to be released at certain times of the year), as was a link for where you can download the posters.
ataxia.org.uk/news.php/310/...!
I know that some of the information written on the website is the same as that in Wobbly TV, but the latter explains in more detail why Ataxia UK did the poster campaign in the first instance, why the advertising company got involved and the personal views of some of those that took part.
Best Wishes
Harriet
Thanks for the info
You are welcome! I do hope you have been able to watch and enjoy the video.
Harriet
I did watch it thanks, and it was, as usual, very good. I`m at a new surgery now and the Docotor I`m under was completely clueless when he asked why I was in a wheelchair - at my first meeting with him - and I mentioned that I suffered from Ataxia SCA6, his expression was just blank. I said; rather then me explaining, or trying to, go onto the internet and look it up.
Whether he does or not I do not know. But time will tell
I`ll be downloading the posters and next time I have to go to the surgery I`l take them with me.
John
I am so sorry about the response you got from your doctor John. Unfortunately your situation is all too common.
I hope the reception you get will be better the next time you have to visit your surgery. As well as the posters you could give them a copy of the summary of the management guidelines for GPs produced by Ataxia UK.
