Sirdupla vs seretide

Anybody on sirdupla? Have been taking for a few days and feel worse than before , quite short of breath - not sure if it's a coincidence

I was given sirdupla a few months ago and was fine on it. It's the same active ingredients as seretide so it *should* be ok, it may be a coincidence but it may be that you're sensitive to the propellant which is different in sirdupla than than seretide.

Actually it Is not exactly the same, sirdupla has a couple of extra ingredients according to the fact sheet the drugs come with.

I have just been given sirdupla by my chemist instead of the seretide, it does not work anywhere near as good as seretide, its delivery propellent is totally different and has caused me no end of irritation,, all this is so the nhs can cut down on cost as the new sirdupla saves around 57million a year compared to the seretide product. The bio equivalent & generic sirdupla product is total garbage

Hi, What sort of irritation did you get? I have an allergy ( mainly itchiness) which started a few days after I started sirdupla , not sure if its related

I agree with you. No where near the same and not as good as seretide

Hi, i new straight away that something was different with my inhaler, it made my throat sore & gums, apparently its the propellent that is different but then the drug is a new product that Is a bio equivalent to seretide, all to save the nhs

I live in Jersey in the Channel Islands and I e been hospital free for 2 years while on seretide and spuriva. I wondered last month when I came home why my seretide was replaced with Sirdupla and phoned pharmacy straight away. They told me it's the same as seretide but I knew it's not because as soon as I took it I have had problems with my breathing which has caused 2 emergency trips into A&E for nebulizers and course of 40mg of oral steroids and I'm still struggling.

Our health care system is different to your NHS but No one will prescribe seretide unless I pay for it!

I was only reminded last Thursday being rushed into hospital that asthma kills

Thanks for confirming what I suspected as I was ok for past 2 years but since the change it's been terrible requiring steroids n amoxicillan with peak flow as low as 250.

My chemist switched me from 250mg seretide to the equivalent sirdupla. Although my asthma symptoms remained the same the taste it leaves in my mouth is soooo much worse and is constantly giving me thrush. I have just been switched to fostfair 100/6 mcg and I'm really not getting on with it, it offers me better relief short term but I'm soon needing my ventolin and more so throughout the day

Has anyone had any success getting their gp to switch back to seretide?

The NICE guidelines changed and recommended anyone on steroid inhalers changed to Fostair. It really didn't suit me and I went from being well for several years to being off sick, lots of antibiotics and steroids and needed A+E. I know several people who did fine but my GP swapped me back.

However picked up meds and now I have been on Sirdupla almost a week. Sore mouth and a wheeze

Iv'e had problems which I believe to be due to a similar change from Seretide. Since early February when the change took place I've had 3 lots of 500mg amoxicillan and 2 lots of predisnolone. It could be coincidental but I may ask to be referred to a hospital consultant. Will give it another week but I'm using up all my Ventolin to keep going.
