I do - a full time office job. I really think each person is affected differently by their Illness. I'm lucky I suppose that I've got a pretty supportive employer but I've not had a huge amount of time off sick. If you are in a union then speak to them. You might also want to approach Citizens Advice.
Good luck
Marie
I'm FEV1 26% predicted. I worked part time before being diagnosed with COPD and still do the same job. It's in the open air and requires a reasonable amount of walking. Ideal for me to keep active and reasonably healthy.
hi puff do you have problems breathing in the winter has you work outside a lot
No I don't which seems to be unusual going by some of the posts on here. It's been -4 some nights this winter and my breathing seems to be the same whatever the temperature. I do late evening shifts and I always seem to breath better out in the fresh air.
thats good. i still work part time has a caretaker sometimes weekends and late shifts but really need my job has helps keep my mind off things and keeps me active
It was only cleaning the car a few times in the winter months that i noticed i was getting a bit breathles that made me go to the doctors
but the strange thing is that the nurse who did my breathing test said i have mild enphysema but when i went to my gp he said that i have moderate COPD
must admit i do feel better since giveing up smoking
Recomend you speak someone who knows the ins and outs of this,,they have changed all the benifit rules,,and it is a minefield now..I have severe copd lung capaticy 43%,,my gp insists i am fit for work..That does not help one little bit,, the blf hepline will be able to guide you to the right people...
I am also 55% and work for myself.
We are all different, and are individual with this illness. I am 58 and hope to carry on until I am 65, but I will see how I am.
I work all over the country and do a fair amount if walking, I too think that helps to supplement my gym exercise.

I worked full time until I dropped below 20%. We are all different though.
I am 70 years old, been living with a lung condition for 8 years, and still working(now part time).Recently put on oxygen machine( when needed) at home, and on asking the pulmiary nurse if I could have a machine into my office they organised it, wanting to encourage people to carry on as normal.I find it good to go to work, good to mix with friends and customers. Keep thinking positive, you have a lot of people in the BLF and Breath Easy clubs who will be a great help.Adjust your life to suit your condition,I still count my blessings, still can see my grandchildren, and (I know it may sound funny)enjoy my life. Good Luck, dont let it get you down. Terry
