Pure emphysema. My x rays show inflated lungs also. There have been occasions when I have had to have two x rays as they are so inflated it takes two x rays to see the whole.
Whats treatment for that surly can't leave them like that
Possibly Lung Volume Reduction Surgery??????
This happened to me yesterday...had to have 2 x rays !! nurse then said that I had long lungs and had no one told me !! I think that is why I cannot bend over and I feel uncomfy today more so because i know it I think...trying to breathe slower.
A had same trouble .. Early days of problems i noticed a could not bend over with out being winded ... Now a just have to watch a dont squash my guts as it makes me ill
I thought that was part of emphysema, that your lungs went baggy as they loose the elasticity.
Hi
Hyperinflated lungs is a result of "bad" breathing techniques over a number of years. Breathing exercises - learning to breathe better - can help with hyperinflated lungs. You could ask to be refered to a physiotherapist to be shown breathing control exercises.
Give us a call - 03000 030 555 - to talk more about it.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark
I was of the understanding from my specialist that hyperinflation was typical of all of us suffering from emphysema as the lungs strive to receive more air - not just bad breathing practices. In a lecture Dr Nick Hopkinson of Imperial College said the same thing. I assume when you refer to breathing control exercises you are referring to diaphragmatic breathing, purse lips breathing etc.
Yes - speak to your GP and asked to be referred.
