Doesn't sound too good!
I've always had doubts about them, particularly as several countries have banned them.

It's very worrying, my son started using one a while back as a way to give up cigs. However, he went back to the cigs and then got Champix from the doc. Again, he's back on the cigs and I am worried for him, I don't want him to end up like me. He badly wants to give up but is finding it very hard. What can I say, I was the same myself and seeing my mum suffer badly with emphysema didn't stop me (and she didn't even smoke much). He's going to try another course of Champix, although once you increase the dose it make him very sick so can only stay on the low dose. I hope he gives up before too long for his sake.
"...they haven't been through the same stringent safety checks..."
Which is what I've been saying all along. Who knows what you're dragging into your lungs from these things? It's a vapour, so is the liquid used in these things pure? What else does it contain?
Although I've been using one for a while I have always been of the opinion that while I'm using NRT in any form, I'm still a 'smoker' - after all that's what gets you addicted.
I will continue to use them despite the lack of regulation as I have very little choice in the matter other than going back to cigarettes.
Does anyone know what 'brand' they tested as there are so many on the market this may not apply to all of them?
Patches made me 'pass out', lozenges gave me mouth ulcers, my mental health is too unstable for the doctor to prescribe me with Champix or Zyban.
So...I have been saving the empty vaporiser cartridges with the intention of attempting to dismantle them if possible and refill them with just water thereby knowing that I am truly just 'vaping'.
What more can I do?
Mind what you're doing Lucky, there were reports of some exploding a while ago after people had fiddled with them. Don't know the exact details but just thought I'd let you know. Interestingly, I've never heard of anyone suffering bad effects from using the e cigs but suppose it will be the long term damage. You'd think a study would have been done on them by now, they've been out a few years, to see what, if any, harmful stuff is in them. Lozenges did it for me, but they they take some getting used to.
Thanks for the warning Libby,
I'll be very careful what I'm doing. There does seem to be a screw in the cartomiser though. If it doesn't just unscrew I won't fiddle around any more, I'll just keep on buying refills and take my chances.
I just need something to help and I seem to have tried all other options except the ones I can't have anyway.

I smoke around 15 a day (roll ups) I also went on the E-cigarette and found it very useful. a pack of 30 would last me 2 weeks, 10 cartridges per tray. But haven't been able to buy any for almost a year now and went back to smoking a again.
If you can afford one try the SKY e-cig...they're the best I've tried!
From some of my friends on an American forum for emphysema, they say that they have now been banned in America.
The American forum seem vehemently against e-cigs. Apparently it is the mechanism/process that creates the vapour, that contains the dodgy chemicals
