Get very agitated and anxious, Help?! Have just finished a course of prednisolone, and feel dreadful. Very shakey, weak, cant sleep, but very tired. extreme thirst, and increased appetite.

I cant advise you on this but I think I heard of other people having problems after having come off steroids. I am sure you will be hearing from someone that is better qualified to tell you, sheepdog. Good luck, Annie80x

Steroids can, and do, give you the shakes sheepdog. They do with me too. They are also responsible for your increased appetite, this is to hopefully build up your muscle strength. Not sure about the tiredness, you should perhaps have a chat with the BLF Helpline on that one, or see your GP/respiratory specialist. Your blood oxygen levels (sats) may be low.

Much of what you say can be attributed to prednisolone. It can have all those effects. I would suggest that if you have come off it and are still experiencing all these things to see your GP.

Shakes, tiredness, because I can't sleep, muscle pain, dry eyes, swollen legs and many other things whilst on and when I come off steroids. Even when I take the smallest dose ie: 5 days of 30mg I need to cut down slowly and this can actually double the time I am on them and I still feel awful for a few days after the last one.

My resp nurse has said in the future they will look at stronger antibiotics instead of steroids.

I will be mentioning this next time I see the doc, think you should also.

Thankyou Polly, your reply has sort of reassured me that these horrible symptoms are due to the steroidresp nurse in the next couple of weeks, so i shall speak to her about it. , and hopefully they will disappear soon. i have to see my resp nurse in the next couple of weeks, so i will speak to her about it. Thankyou for replying. Big help.
