And the verdict is...........................................................................

Well, for those who have been brave enough to follow my doing my ankle harm by over exercising over the past month, I finally saw someone who I knew would really tell me what is wrong and start to help me put it right...... the physio.

When I did it, through my own research, I had decided it was my peroneal tendon - you have 2 in each foot. After going to minor injuries last week, I was told it was achilles tendon and though I was surprised, naturally, I took that as what the problem was

Well, turns out that I was right in the first place. The wonderful NHS with which I had my physio appointment this morning spent over an hour examining, testing and putting me through my paces to find out what is wrong.

And the good news, while I have a long and painful road to recover, I will recover and even better news, I have not torn the tendon but it is very inflamed and swollen (no kidding when I struggled to even get my UGG's on this morning because it has been so swollen for 2 weeks now).

I havent done any damage by continuing to walk on it but I do need a rehab program but need to stay off the treadmill at least until I see him next week.

After my post about NHS the other day, I feel even more grateful for the NHS, when it comes to anything to do with muscular skeletal system, I would put my money on a physio over any medic, they really know their stuff and I got the best of the best and as many appointments as I need.

The pain is no better, the swelling is even worse but that is what I was warned would happen but thanks to my physio, I now have a regime to follow to start my recovery and I don't know what I would have done without this.

At least you know now that the damage is real and you can do something to help it. Take care and I hope it gets better quickly :)

Am glad to hear you've got that diagnosis sorted out Kat and are on the way to recovery. Hopefully it won't take too long. It's also good to see that you are holding off on the treadmill for a while :)

I am so glad you not not done too much damage but I can understand just how painful it is for you. At present I have a ruptured Plantar fascii, ruptured the peroneal on one side of the foot. And the achiles is tight at the risk of rupturing. That is just in the right foot which I also have posterior tibial dysfunction. In the left foot tightened achiles and plantar fasciitis. Walking really is a pain. Waiting for physio to get splints for feet/ankles for when I am at rest as I refused the operation offered due to my daughter being ill(but they fully understood). So they agreed to try other treatments first thank god. But if in 6 months there is no change or I make things worse then I will go in and have the op done. So I can imagine just how much pain you are in and I do hope it improves very soon. It is one thing lung stuff slowing us down but we need are feet too XXXXX
