Its Nothing To Stress Over Really But Because I Had Not Used My Inhalers A Did My Test And Nearly Died When They Told Me To Use Them And Do Test A Gain ....
Others Who Had Did Not Have To Repeat Test But I Did Not Want To Do Oxagen Test Again ... That Stuffs Hard Work
A Don't Know If Your Test Is The Same But I Had Sly Fag Then Chewing Gum Just Before Test
All The Best
OMG your crazy lol, i just had a tab end i found in my ash tray lol, i do use an asthma spray, but the technician said it hadnt made any difference lol
Oh! dear, don't like the sound if this, my test is in two weeks, I am recovering from a lung infection, so shurely they wont expect a lot from me? she says hopefully.
Dont worry too much, i told the nurse, i wasnt any good at doing breathing tests, its not as bad as you think, they just push you to keep breathing out, i thought i had done rubbish, but she said it was good lol, and she said my tubes was tight, but not as bad as some people
They advise you not to smoke for 24 hours prior but just let them know when you go when you smoked, I dont think that will prevent you from doing it
And do all you can not to smoke
did you not get a list of what you instructions to follow prior to attending your test?
Yes i did get a list, but im struggling not to have a ciggy, stupid i know, but i want one
All you can do is try your best missy. I was lucky, I had given up 2 weeks prior to my tests so it wasnt really an issue for me.
They will still do the test and stressing out about not smoking is going to make you want to smoke even more
You can only do your best
xxx
and its not stupid eitherxxx
It shouldnt be this hard to stop, and them e cigs are gross lol
Honestly, don't worry about it now. Try to relax because stressing about it is going to add to your breathing difficulties.
Who said it shouldnt be hard to stop? that is why there are so many rich cigerette manufacturers, because they get us hooked and they rake it in.
Get the test out of the way and if after your test (when they should hopefully give you some results too), if you want to look at the stopping smoking, all to the good.
if you have lung disease, stopping really is going to be very important but for the sake of a day or 2, dont worry.
I was smoking for 32 years, got my diagnosis friday, was at stop smoking appointment on monday and have not smoked since.
I have had the patches and the spray but I don't have the need to have something in my hand.
Take help that is offered by your GP practice if you decide to stop, it really does help
Get your test out of the way, you will then find out what you are dealing with and you will know what you do or don't need to do
let us know how you get on tomorrow

I hope your results was ok, I have some patches, can i wear them prior to the lung test
my results are a bit of a confusing mix, nurse said not copd, dr says maybe but not sure so actually, I really do not know but I am not smoking again, either way, my lungs are permanently damaged.
There is absolutely no reason why you could not wear a patch, particularly if it will help you from not smoking
Good luck

Even while im having the test, thanks for the chat, you have helped me loads
yes, it has no direct impact on your lungs, it is in your bloodstream to limit the cravings that your brain has to the nicotine
it is when you inhale it and all the other chemicals into the lungs it is a problem
but by all means, tell them you are wearing a patch but I am 99.9% certain it is not a problem - and I wouldnt say that if there was any doubt

Missy, I know it's hard, I've been there, but giving up smoking is the biggest single thing you can do to help you.
You won't be the first to turn up confessing you have had a cigarette, but take every bit if help you can from them to quit. It could extend your life by many years.
I smoked for over 30 years and gave up, at last, just over a year ago. I will never smoke again. I don't need them and neither do you. In fact, I am less stressed than when I smoked as it actually makes you worse. You don't need a cigarette, it's your brain telling you that you do.
As I say it is hard, but I always remember a comment made by someone on here:
What do I want most? A cigarette or living? Think on it.

Yes, stress levels much lower since stopping
What do I want most? Smoking or life is exactly what made it a non negotiable decision for me to stop too

It is very hard and I spent years trying and then failing but in the end after a good 2yrs of struggling for breath and hiding it from people I too decided that I want to continue to live for a bit longer and 3 yrs 2 months ago I managed to finally kick the habit apart from having my children I class this as my biggest achievement in my whole 54 yrs .....just keep trying and eventually you will win
take care

Thankyou, im sure this site will help me, just hope the results are ok t.mora x
I did it with Champix from the doctor. Nothing else worked for me (Gum, patches, lozenges, ecigs, zyban, hypnosis etc.)
I also was at a stage where I wanted to stop.

I did the tests yaaay, wasnt too bad, just had trouble to keep breathing out, but its amazing wot you can do if you try lol, they didnt even ask if i had a ciggy lol
excellent missy
Did they give you any results?

They just said my tubes was tight lol
You obviously don't have to tell me if you dont want to but I will assume that you have an appointment with the relevant Dr to discuss the results.

Why do you think i have a problem, Im seeing the specialist in march, ive got other tests to have first, but will be staying on this site, its helped me loads, well you have been fantastic xxx
no no no, sorry if you thought I thought that.
Becasue I did not know what had happened to you to get you to lung function tests and it was not my business to ask, , I was basically just making sure that you were being seen at some point about the results as occasionally, at GP surgeries, one falls through a net.
I am not saying Dr's let you slip through either, I only had mine done with GP surgery and if I did not go back myself to discuss the results, I am not sure they would have called me in
I was only being sure you couldn't fall through the net in getting your results.

haha, i was just wondering, you have been a great help, Its actually my heart valve, they are just checking my lungs to see if they are working ok, because it can affect them, fingers crossed my lungs are ok, cos if not i cant have the heart op, not that im in a rush for that haha xxx
Glad to help - ex nurse so its in my blood and makes me feel a bit useful when I can help in a small way.
It all makes sense now, an incorrect assumption that you were having them because you have been breathless or have some other symptom of lung disease rather than to check they have not been affected by your other problem.
Fingers crossed for you though but please do hang around here and anyone (including me) will gladly help and we will all be interested in hearing how your results go

You have been a great help, i was devastated when the doctor told me, cos ive been having tests for a year, and it was a right blow, im very scared because im not good with anasthetic, I didnt realise you was a nurse, your a good listener too, better than a counsellor talking to you x
Did you have a fag
Just a couple of puffs the day before, but they didnt even ask me if i smoked
