Hi ,Just a quick question, doe's anyone know of any HOME breathing exercise's

My physio tought me a few : Breath in for 2 seconds, Breath out for 2 seconds, hold your Breath for 3 seconds (and repeat for 2 minutes or more, 5 or six times a day) very good if you find yourself breathing too fast. It recalibrate's your brain as sometimes your brain is telling you are out of breath when your actually not! and you can start to Hyperventilate. GIVE IT A GO FOR A WEEK , IT REALLY WORKS.
Also try very shallow 'quiet as a mouse breathing' for 2 minutes or as long as you can, 5 or six times a day.
The BLF held a very popular webinar on exercising with a lung condition (including breathing exercises) much of which could be done at home. Watch it here
Thanks Stitch, this looks really interesting, do you have one?
Have been and looked at these and ordered one! Why didn't you tell me about these before??! Lol! Have bought the powerbreathe classic light resistance and for the sake of £30 it's just not worth going through the hassle of waiting for my nurse to visit, her telling me she's never heard of them, saying she'll ask the doctor and him hmmm-ing and haaa-ing for weeks. They definitely look worth a go. When I took part in some clinical research a few years ago (all breathing, no drugs), one the the tasks was to breathe into some computerised apparatus that was resisting your breath, to be honest it was horrible when they kept increasing the resistance until you couldn't force any air into it at all, but I always found I felt better after it, so am hopeful for this device and it is only light resistance. Well worth a go. Thanks Stitch! Libby
