Stone.

I am on Trimbow and have been for a while now.

When I took bad and (yet again) in hospital the Pulmonary specialist nurse put me on Trimbow and the Professor and her said it was for people with moderate to severe Emphysema.

And of course, more pills.

It works well for some but not.good for others. If you are happy with what you are on I wouldn't change. But you can only try it.

Did you manage to see your consultant, discussing Trimbow, I’m back on my Spiriva respimat and Symbicort, I really did persevere to no avail.i don’t get out to visit Doctor, sent a note saying Trimbow not working for me. I still think it’s down to cost. Stay well janet.

Hi Janet, hope you are feeling a little better now.you are back on your old meds. I, unfortunately have only just got mine back. Ended up with a chest infection, third one in 3 months thanks to trimbow. When I have finished the steroids and ab I will hopefully start feeling less breathless and shakey now I have started my seretide and spiriva. I feel really bad about it all really, because it was me that asked the consultant if I could try the trimbow as o had heard a lot of good things about it. So feel I have caused a lot of trouble for folk. Let alone making my.self so poorly. I know there is no magic cure here. But I just want to do everything I can to just be able to breath comfortably even if it only sitting down. Which I definitely could not do on trimbow. Please let me.know how you are doing. Pat xxx

Hi, yes I was switched to Trimbow a while back. Much more convenient as it takes the place of 2 previous inhalers. I find I am quite shakey after the morning dose, but then settles down. Need the loo soon after.

Hello Dilly I tried Trimbow for two months, first dose not too bad for 6? Hrs or so then all down bank gasping for the next 6 to pass quickly as I was gasping on my knees. It didn’t improve , therefore I put myself back on my original inhalers, I’m not running about but can get around the house. I hope it works for you as with a few others. I would take a dozen inhalers a day just to be normal for a short while. So 1 inhaler isn’t of interest to me. Especially as it doesn’t work. All of us on this thread probably suffer completely different problems, mine is stage4 Emphysema , so I’m sure it’s one size will not fit all. Best wishes Dilly hope it works for you.

Hello Janet thanks for your reply I haven't. Started the the new inhaler yet I've still got a supply of my old inhalers which I shall use first I'm nervous about starting the new one has the last 12 months I've stayed well so I can't see the point of changing I don't go out much becouse I get very breathless and my oxygen levels drop even with oxygen on to much like hard work

Not had good feed back on this Trimbow. Take care x

I would ask the doc. First Why he wants to change your meds. As you are stable on what you are on. But, I must say although trimbow was no good for me, it did increase my o2 levels, and I had a little more energy for about 1hour. I don't have asthma, I have emphysema severe. But I wouldn't wait till you have run out of.your old meds. That's what I did and run into trouble, because it took 10 days to get my old meds. Back. The doc. May have a very good reason for changing you. But, what annoys me, is that they do not discuss it with you first. The decision should be made between the two of you!!

I have been on trimbow for a few months, possibly minimal improvement, but I still take formeterol (atimos modulite ) in between the trimbow doses.

Awaiting the miracle inhaler:)

Tilantoe profile image
Tilantoe in reply toSundance115

That's what Janet and I have been saying. Trimbow does not last 12 hours. So you are having to top up the formeterol inbetween times to get through the day. So the 3 in 1 is pointless.

Sundance115 profile image
Sundance115 in reply toTilantoe

I have tried various inhalers and have yet to find one that lasts 12 hours.. and whichever i normally take my second dose after 8/9 hours.

Tilantoe profile image
Tilantoe in reply toSundance115

How long does formeterol on it's own last for you and at what strength please?

Sundance115 profile image
Sundance115 in reply toTilantoe

Prior to trimbow I was on spiriva respimat, q var and Atimos Modulite 12 micrograms inhaler

Initially the formeterol dose was 2 puffs twice a day.

When I spoke to the consultant re the 12 hr relief not adequate he said the formeterol could be taken 4 times daily.

Another consultant said to try trimbow but i could still take 1/2 puffs formeterol in between.

I guess we are all waiting the miracle inhaler:) but have to make do with whatever suits the individual

Tilantoe profile image
Tilantoe in reply toSundance115

Makes sense, as you would still be taking formeterol 4x daily. 2x trimbow and 2x separately . Thankyou

Tilantoe I meant to ask you if you have ever taken or been offered, Daxas.Roflumilast. I read about them they were given the okay buy N I C E. 18 months ago, not given prescribed by every area, mine was, then saw specialist in adjoining County, he and his fellows wanted to prescribe but not allowed. He said I was lucky. I took them for a while, then was diagnosed with other burdens, so tried to work out what or which drugs were causing new burdens. I never did and will ask again to start on Roflumilast. Just google it’s all there. Have a good day. Janet.

Hello Sundance just clicked on your steroids link. Interesting, and I believe Some should not be using, but Others should it’s Not a fits all. Never heard of atimos modulite so Googled, my Symbicort contains same ingredients. BUT when I went onto Trimbow I was told very Strictly Not to use any other inhaler along with. I didn’t continue with Trimbow. Other than ventolin. Janet.

Sundance115 profile image
Sundance115 in reply tojanet1944

Doesn't Symbicort contain steroid?

janet1944 profile image
janet1944 in reply toSundance115

Yes 200mcg. Corticosteroid Budesonide. 6mcg. Formatrol Bronchodilator . Isn’t it great how how everytime I read the comments I learn something, thank you Sundance. Janet.

I’m on Trimbow, not noticed any improvement. If anything my last exacerbation was worse but that could be coincidence. Hope it works for you.

I have read a few articles re the effectiveness of corticosteroids for copd without the asthma component - the use appears controversial.

Once discussed their effectiveness at clinic, to which the consultant replied minimal.

I do have athsma I shall have a chat with the nurse about that thanks

Sundance115 profile image
Sundance115 in reply toDilly2

Even between consultants opinion varies.

The consultant who first prescribed atimos modulite said don't take more than 2 puffs twice a day, - possible increased heart rate.

Another prof(research) at same hospital said no I could take 3/4 times daily.

I changed from Fostair and Spiriva to Trimbow in June and thought that there was an improvement with no problems but in September I had an exacerbation and started prednisone. After a couple of days, I felt significantly worse and had to stop the steroids.

In October, another exacerbation. Took one dose of prednisone and had such a bad reaction that I thought my time had come.

I started to wonder what was different and decided that it must be down to the Trimbow.

Earlier this month, I could feel that my symptoms were worsening and decided at that point to stop the Trimbow and go back on the Fostair ( no Spiriva ) in preparation for taking prednisone. After about 5 days, I decided to chance the prednisone and managed to take the full course without any problems.

Conclusion : Trimbow and prednisone do not go together in my case but of course, everyone reacts differently.

Hi greatauntali that's worth knowing. I'll have to see how it goes

My respiratory nurse told me They are hoping to but everyone on Trimbow soon easier to have one inhaler instead of more

I think it's cost we will wait and see

Hi Dilly2 I am new to COPD condition but I have tried a lot of different drugs including trimbow. originally I took it and failed to improve in fact went down hill quickly. My doctor again suggested trimbow a month later and I gave it another chance. This time results have been significantly better for me breathing appears much better and perceived endurance or capacity to engage in exercise increased. I hope it continues. Using ventolin and prednisone as well. Keeping a good drug diary really helps and helps my dr as well see change
