What is the life expectancy for severe emphysema ?
Call the helpline it depends on so many things it is not easy giving an answer without persssonal details that should not be put in a public place.
i will tell you whene i gone, i really i don't know and don't went to know
Hard to answer this question. Sounds as if you need to talk to a BLF nurse - a obne to one conversation - Annie80
You may as well ask how long is a piece of string because there are far too many variables to calculate and even if all details are known and fixed there will still be no set time frame. The most important thing is to stay as healthy as possible and to have a good quality of life and to think positively.
A: somewhere between a matter of minutes and a millennium - so many variables involved, like the medication being used, other conditions specific to the person, diet, weight, habits...
You could ask 20 different doctors and get 20 different answers, if they give one at all. Much depends on how you handle the condition and look after yourself. Best discussed with a health professional than asked as a general question here.
i do hope it is a millenium gordon, but i will settle for another 20 years
Dont know either bit like bingo know when your numbers called but
twelve years ago ,I was advised that I had about 3 years life with reasonable quality followed by a rapid drop in quality of life ,and a total life span of approx 5 years .

How long is a piece of string. It could be measured in months, a year or two. Or a decade or more. sit in a chair, do nothing but watch tv while waiting for the maker, and life will be short. Get out, enjoy life, look after yourself, exercise, laugh a lot, and it maybe measured in a decade or more. As I have very severe emphysema I will know, or not know, soon enough.
every body is different, my brother had empphtsema in his fifties and survived a good many years, so there is no answers
My dad had emphysema, and died when he was 80, from liver cancer.
