The Met Office have issued a level 3 cold weather warning for England - the most severe warning level is 4 so it looks like it is going to get pretty cold, icy and even snowy.
Apparently the Met Office in conjunction with the Department of Health only have this service for England - please bear with me and i will try to find out why Scotland and Wales are not listed for the cold alerts.
Cheers

All I can say is thank God for my 15.5 tog duvet, fleecy dressing gown and central heating!!! I do hope everyone takes heed of this and stay warm!
I signed up to the Met Office phone calls for COPD'ers here in the north of Scotland. If the weather's going to be bad you get an automated call warning you. They ask you to make sure you have enough medicines and if you're condition has worsened. Last year I said 'Yes' to the worsened bit as I had a cough and cold. A few days later I had a call from a nurse asking how I was as I hadn't been to the doctor!
The last couple of years I have had calls on my mobile from the Met Office to warn of bad conditions. I have not had one this year how can I find out if my Doctor still uses this service without bothering the surgery.
Thanks for the update Jo. It is always good to know what we have coming our way so we can be prepared. I will make sure Pete wears his hat as well as his scarf and gloves when we go out. Hope not to be doing too much now in the run up to Christmas. xxxxxx
Living in rural wales now I am prepared for the cold, ice, snow as never before - that's after being stuck in snow when a couple of winters ago, the temperature plummeted to -16 degrees and I almost passed out !
