I lost my sense of smell and taste a long time ago...I hate not being able to smell a beef joint roasting and not being able to enjoy its taste , the smell of a favourite perfume or flower!! Thank goodness for memories!!.However I would prefer not to be too reliant on Prednisilone. the side effects are dreadful my weight as ballooned and I seemed to be in a vicious cycle but I havent had to take any for 6 weeks now fingers crossed...still coughing and breathless though, but what can you do.??.Im afraid its one of the more desireble symptoms of COPD..Sorry I couldnt be more helpful? Just know that you are not alone..

Hi, I was on 60mg now on 40mg of Pred. Same side effets as you. We all seem to be in the same boat one way or another.

I haven't lost my sense of taste or smell but I am forever getting pimples on my tongue, I never used to and am wondering what that is all about????

I haven't lost my sense of taste but have to admit that everything tastes yucky. I thought at first that it was the inhaler making everything taste weird but even on days when I haven't had to use it I still get that awful taste.

I know what you mean, not good is it. Not only does prednisalone make you put on weight you don't even enjoy the food lol.

Hello everyone,

Have lost my sense of smell and taste too and think the colomycin and gentamicin through the nebuliser don't help as are very drying. Revolting taste in mouth all the time too. Does anyone else crave salt and sugar? Used to hate marmite but love it now as I can taste it!

Hi all, I haven't lost my sense of smell or taste, but I find that a lot of things frequently don't taste nice anymore and I am always leaving food. A year or two ago I had ended up very underweight and it took me ages to get some weight back on and now it seems to be happening again. Also, I find things frequently taste salty, even if I've cooked it myself and haven't added any salt. I don't take prednisalone frequently, but did suppose it was from my inhalers and other drugs. It's one thing after another with copd!
