Well, I have been for my post rehab assessment today and my endurance levels have improved no end, just goes to show that it works. The hard part is keeping it up at home, any suggestions would be welcome.

Rehab works
I found the same, really benefitted from rehab. I finished 3 weeks ago. Didn't really do much the 1st week but began to start feeling tired & more out of breath, realised I wasn't going to let all the good work go to waste!!. I'm certainly finding it hard to keep motivated at home but I do most of the exercises at home. I bought some weights from Argos, must say it's been worth it.I have got myself into a routine where I do them the same time every day, put some music on & off I go!! Altho I can't do the walking excercise in my small house I am trying to do all the others. I'm feeling the benefit again now. Even after missing just a week I felt weaker. Come on Gillyj don't undo all that hard work!! I am still managing to work at present and feel so tired when I get home but I'm determined to keep it up. You can do it !!! Good luck!! Keep me informed how you get on. Just think how well you feel now, don't want to slip back to how you were. Like I said only 1 week missed but I could feel the difference. It is difficult tho doing it on your own at home. xx
Hi, My husband got a DVD with all the excercises on from the rehab class and he does try to do at least an hour a week plus there is a "gentle" excercise group specifically aimed to help those not so fit and young! in a local leisure centre and he tries to get there once a week - though some weeks I suspect it is for the tea! We are also considering a treadmill - just a simple one that he could keep up some walking in the winter. Try to set up a routine and try to stick to it. Even after a year my husband is still much better than before rehab! Good Luck TAD x ps I think there is a dvd from the BLF?
Thanks for the encouragement, I certainly will try. The dvd sounds interesting.
Well done ! And yes that was my experience too-really good after Pulmonary Rehab, and keeping things going by regularly attending a local COPD exercise group every week, going on Walks for Health and going to an exercise referral gym session. Really great and the exercise has made lots of difference.
If I do have an off day, theI try to do the rehab exercises at home. Exercising when I can makes such a great deal of difference to my life, I can't afford not to! Good luck.
Hi Ciss,
The people who ran your Pulmonary Rehab should know if there is a local COPD/Respiratory exercise class. Your GP practice nurse or local BLF nurse will also know where you can find out.
Or try this link where you can searching your area. Good Luck!
