Help children exposed to cigarette smoke in cars

The British Lung Foundation (BLF) are campaigning to stop smoking in cars when children are on board to protect young lungs from the harmful effects of passive smoke in the confines of the car. Email your MP to make them aware of the dangerous effects of second hand smoke and get their support on the matter.

I and my hubby did and this is the reply EXACTLY as we received it, including errors.

Re:Smoke-Free Private Vehicles Bill

Thank you very much for contacting me regarding the above matter.

Unfortunately, due to constituency engagements, I will not able to be in London for the debate on this issue, but please allow me to look into the points you have raised and be I will write to you again in due course.

In the meantime, if I can be of further assistance on this or any other issue please do not hesistate to contact me again.

What hope do we have if they sign letters they have not even checked.

You would have thought she would have passed it on to one of her colleagues who will be there, or am I asking too much.

Each MP has a vote on the various bills raised through Parliament and if they are not in the house when a bill is discussed they cannot vote on it, which is what I think your MP means here. They're not able to pass the vote to a proxy.

Spilling mistokes aside of course.

Gordon, your reply made me smile as it made me think of the policeman in .....can't remember the name of the programme but it contained the Madonna with the big boobies!

'Allo 'Allo - Rene's cafe, with the wonderful Gordon Kaye. The Policeman, Officer Crabtree, was played by Arthur Bostrom. ;-)

Dear Polly,

Thank you so much for emailing your MP. Do you mind telling us who your MP is? It is very useful for us to know which MPs are supportive or not and whether they will be in the Commons to vote.

Best wishes,

Melanie from the BLF Campaigns team

Apologies, I have just realised that this was posted a year ago. We are asking people to email their MPs again, as you may have seen last week, legislation will be voted on in the Commons next week. Please do email your MP again if you are happy to do so.

Thank you
