Dont want to smoke again
HI and welcome.
You won't feel any improvement until you quit the fags completely I'm afraid. Although, I must say, you've still done well to get down to two.
I stopped, exactly the same way, by cutting down until I got down to one, last thing at night and I gave that last one up a couple of days later.
My Fev1, didn't improve until about 18 months after quitting and has improved, each year since 2013. xx
You are still smoking so no you probably won't see any improvement. Even when you do get rid of thoes last two fags it will take a while to get rid of all the c@#$ in your lungs but you will see an improvement after a while. So its well worth the effort. Well done on what you have achieved so far keep up the good work
Hi you are much too impatient! It took many years for your lungs to get into that state so it will take some time for them to start getting rid of the accumulated muck in them. However until you stop completely any improvement will be limited.
There is a very good quit smoking site on here so why not join? They helped me give up last year. x
Are you on medications for your COPD? It may be that they need tweaking.
As others have said, nearly giving up cigs isn’t a miracle cure; it may be that your breathing will improve, or you may stay as you are. But the important thing is that you are doing the best thing to slow down any progression, and give your poor lungs a fighting chance!
Vaping doesn’t suit everyone - I had to stop because it made me cough.
If you are struggling to breathe, please go back to your doctor.
Well done. I felt worse for 3 months after I quit. Guess my lungs were getting used to functioning without the constant poison.
Thank u.
Welcome to the site and well done for cutting down on cigarettes, your next target is to quit altogether. Infections and bad chest symptoms are quite common when you stop smoking as is weight gain . You will feel better given time , don't worry if you go back to fags, you can always try again to quit, it took me three attempts I have now been a non smoker for 12 years. Good luck for a healtheir no fags future.
It is rough to give them up I see people go through it .. Its good your down to two keep moving forward in stopping and things should clear up...
