i guess most of us know about dairy produce, but i was wondering about products that contain dairy other than the obvious like cheese and yogurt.

i`m thinking of things like chocolate, soups cream of mushroom.

also dried milk as in chocolate drinks.

Hi Linb ,What about dairy products ? That they produce mucus?

I was reading some research recently this thinking is now out of date and that dairy products should be included as part of a balanced diet.

,,,I guess that if this is true there can still be a problem with dairy products if a person has an allergy to them.

I am not sure if links are allowed here but if not the Mods can delete it

Here is one piece of research, I saw a more recent one but can't find it now.

Hi Linb ,What about dairy products ? That they produce mucus?

yep thats what i was told by copd nurse, but should be ok in moderation

Hmmm, not sure that's correct unless you have a specific intolerance Linb. I think it's a bit old hat now, as downfield says. Maybe the helpline can advise?

When first diagnosed (with bronchiectasis, where you get a lot of mucus) I went 3-months on a strictly no-dairy diet. Didn't make the slightest bit of difference to me! I think a varied balanced diet is best, keep yourself in good shape with all-round nutrition

Also dairy (calcium) is important to help protect from osteoporosis.

I know this is out of date (just catching up 4 months late!) but that article could be totally biased (who are these people?) - and also they seem to be talking about asthma not bronchial problems.

There are many opposing views - this one is not related to mucous particularly but does cover osteoporosis and is well worth reading - saveourbones.com/osteoporos...
