I got refused my first application, when I went to see the assessor at a hospital she asked if I had walked from the carpark to which I answered yes - bad move, and as you can only speak when spoken to I couldn't explain how long it took me, how the effort made me feel ill, how many times I had to stop. Now I'm on oxygen I got my Blue Badge no problem, hope I can get one again in two years.

Hello Libby,

My you seem to have had problems. next time it will be OK, Something similar happened to me, but i was not going to be put off by some paper pushing girl in office.I went to my MP surgery and had a chat with him, you know Libby,it was like MAGIC,2 days later had letter from the office who supply the BLUE BADGES, apologising for the troubled i had had, and the person had been brought up to date with things.

I hope all goes well for you

REGARDS

Ive not yet applied for one and am pretty much housebound apart from loads of appointments at hospitals, dr's, physio etc and am just in the throws of filling in the DLA forms which I doubt I will get, as it seems no.one is getting it without a big fight and lots of stress, so the report about the blue badge is another way they are victimizing us! I think it is terrible!

just like to say that if you can access the radio 5 live pod cast for this mornings debate on this that it is well worthlisterning to . The BLF support was great and so was the mamber Who I think was called Agnes, forgive me if that is not correct, for defending us all on the air today. yYou're a star.Would like to see the medical assessors try to live and mobilise themselves with only 1/3d of their lungs....could be interesting

Despite the process being changed so the application is (should be?) the same all over the country, it's still down to individual councils to process these and make the final decisions. There do not seem to be consistent guidelines for them to follow.

I already have my own case open with my MP. I think I will follow up on this, see if she can pass my comments on to the right department, whichever it may be, for comment.

By the way, I still have not got my badge - the council cashed the cheque two weeks ago...

Still getting it automatically because of high rate DLA mobility that assessed my needs, the number of people that abused the scheme have spoiled things for the genuine users

This is worrying and people dealing with Blue Badges should be better trained. My husband looks very well but most certainly is not. Luckily, he has had a blue badge for quite some time now. I also feel that people who park in disabled bays when they are not disabled or displaying the blue badge should be heavily fined. Struggling to breathe is bad enough without having to walk miles because you could not park near to a supermarket or shopping area. More spaces for genuine people please.

There is so much fraud with the blue badge system that this is what needs looking at. I have a blue badge and finding a disabled parking space can be all but impossible in many supermarkets. And it makes my blood boil when apparently healthy people jump out after putting the badge in the window, and walk unaided, at speed to their destination. I think more checks should be made on users. And those using them when they should not should lose their cars. That would sharpen the mind a bit. As one has already said there will always be the morons in society. Those that are the pretenders. And it is these that make it so hard for the rest of us. Those on high rate DLA have no fear though as the blue badge is automatic then. I have to park often away from the 50 or so disabled bays as they are all full, and walk past these so called disabled, with a cannula up my nose while still sob. These shirkers should be ashamed of themselves. Rant over for the day

We have adopted so many things from foreign countries, often for the worse, but some countries abroad do fine when parked on disabled bays, the country is short of money so my answer is start to fine the blighters who '' i am only going to be a few minutes'' my wife says i shall finish up with a good hiding, as soon as i see some one parked and then walking off a sharp pace, i ask them you dont look disabled, their reply is a mouthful of abuse, i have the Canulla in place so they know i am disabled, and a tender age of 76 yrs. If only we could turn the clock back to when say i was 30yrs, Sadly the shock they need is not forthcoming in the current legislation. But i value my Badge it can save me quite a bit.

Not what you're looking for?
