Seat and basket got to be in there
Not using one yet is there a place you can go and try different ones the same way you find comfortable shoes that fit you just right but would not be the same on others feet, using or trying one will give a list of what you want.
I started to use one all the time in march and it helps me a lot-despite the fact I feel too young to need one. If you are thinking of going in a bus or even a car get a folding one. The 3 wheel ones are no good as there is no seat so you can't rest. Google the Roma and similar. Your local social services will lend you one if you ask. If you are ever going to fold it then you won't need a basket. Supermarket wire baskets fit on the seat of mine and I hang a shopper from the handle. Have fun! You will be embarrassed at first but it will help
I would love to use mine but would like someone to walk with me, I think I would be too embarrasssed on my own. I have had one for about 6 months but it is still in the shed. Might have to stay there till next summer!!!
*polly
Big wheels for uneven ground and good brakes for down hill with weight on it because you can't go as fast as it can. Would have a three wheel type if using it in shops and flat place where you need to turn more, it is about how you will use it and where when you look for what is best.
thanks guys it will do the hard yards in the mall plenty to think on
Hi there antz, I bought one of these myself and have to say its the best thing I have ever bought. I call her Dora!!! she has helped to build my confidence and go out by myself, she helps me to walk further, I don`t feel the need to stop and rest as often and she has helped be to gain a better quality of life. Go ahead treat yourself, you won`t regret it. I bought mine from better life off the internet, its part of Lloyds pharmacy.
Good luck Linda
Hi Antz
Glad to hear you are joining the Rollator brigade! I use oxygen tanks so for me the rollator was best as I can carry the tanks in the bag that came with it. Mine also has brakes so I can stop for a breather anytime and it is surprising how many people will stop and natter to you as well. As far as I am concerned the pair are my "toys"!
My physio reccommended I bought one as she said it would also keep my head/neck in the right position and I got it from a disability aids shop that advertised on ebay and it was cheaper doing it that way than buying from the actual shop, which rather surprised me. If I am going out in the car I can fold it up and put it in the boot so you may want to take dimensions like that into consideration.
When I moved to a new area I was informed that they actually lent these out on a long term basis and would not have to have bought my own, so as someone else has mentioned do check this out with either the hospital or social services.
good luck and i hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I do mine.
