Hi although i go to PR I am not very good at doing my excercises at home, I love going on the treadmill so thought if I had one at home I could use it every day, (or would I).
Has anyone got one and do you use it?

Hello polly
I bought one from ebay a couple of years ago, and although I enjoyed using it, it took up so much room in our small bungalow that I sold it after about a year. They are really good during the winter when you're not able to get out to the gym.

instead of buying one, try one!!!
I know this sounds really silly but not a lot of people re aware of freecycle -
Its a site where people give away - for free- stuff they no longer use, you can put up wanted ads all you do is look at the part of the site closest to you
in our area there have been a lot of exercise bikes and treadmills recently all you do is apply for it and if the giver is happy to give it to you they will email their address ( via the site) and you just pick it up!
Sounds simple and it really is.
Good luck
As you already know you like using them then i would say go for it - assuming you have the space. I know what elian is saying about bungalows though - when i moved into mine last year i downsized to a single bed so i had space for it in the bedroom .... not that i would suggest giving one's partner the boot in preference for a dreadmill lol
I have already suggested that, with his cpap and his fan on all night regardless of the temperature but to no avail, maybe one day. We have just discussed sorting out his computer (junk) room and I think that might be an option (or is that the glass of wine talking), we will see in the morning.
I must confess that although I enjoyed the treadmill at the gym I was not good at using it at home. At the gym I managed 6 minutes at the beginning of the session and 6 minutes at the end. At home a couple of minutes was a struggle.
A lot has happened since February and I no longer go to the gym, so perhaps it is time to start doing something. I still have the treadmill and reading this have decided I must use it or recylce it. I'll give it a go tomorrow.
I'm with Parvati, if you like using it, get one.
Good luck
EJ
I have one and use it more in winter if weather is real bad and wet..Buy a half decent 1 though if you do..Different speeds and incline etc is best..Also i have 1 that folds up so when your not using it,dosen"t take up hardly any room...Put and ipod on and off you go..Its Great, saves going the gym i find..
Gordon that is terrible. Good job I did not have a go 'cos I am completely useless at IT stuff. Makes you wonder why they have a site and invite people to join if they really are so unfriendly.
i am so sorry this happened to you Gordon - i joined a few years ago and did not go through anything like that - and have never used yahoo !!!!!
It may be down to the moderators in your area, i really have no idea.
Its so sad when its meant to be a site for recycling unwanted stuff - if people cant get on how do you recycle.
I will try and contact my local mods and see if they can suggest anything but have a feeling that they will pass the buck.
To be honest Gordon i'm really embarrassed i suggested it to someone for them to get turned away - 3 years ago i had a house fire and lost everything, and as someone who recycles as much as i can, this site was a godsend - i completely refinished my house with new and decent second hand stuff.
I can answer your question about the groups yes different areas have different groups, each group having its own moderators.
My sister, who has Spina Bifida, has a minimal income but also is a strong advocate of recycling so i suggested her local group to her - spoke to her last night and it turns out she was also refused..
i really don't know what to say!!!!
Freecycle is a volunteer sevice I think, and it sometimes doesn't work well when there is no 'moderator' for admin....we had some local hiccups here a few months ago and now all is fine, worth trying again methinks ?
A few years ago a lot of the UK Freecycle groups didn't like the way the USA lot were handling the group so they opted out and became Freegle. See if there is a Freegle group near you instead of Freecycle.

" 'Overbearing input' from the States stops British groups making their own decisions, say volunteers "
