Thinking of buying a Treadmill !
Hiya Rick, very good choice, must admit it's the best bit of equipment for me to do some exercising. It's in the warm, you can do as much or as little as you want and anytime you want. Since I have had mine (under a week), I have found some energy and extra puff. The first few days were a struggle but now I put my headphones on and listen to documentaries from my computer and the time flies by! If you go on to the Argos site, and go to the Treadmills section, they have a bit on comparisons of manual and electric which is worth reading. I chose an electric one because my lungs are so bad (stage four also but a poor one LOL) I thought that the effort required to start the manual one would be too much for me and I would be more likely not to use it. It all depends on your purse, space and motivation and only you can answer that one! Good luck and I hope you do choose one for home; I cannot praise them more highly. I am sure Tony would say the same. x
Hope you don't mind me asking, which treadmill did you buy from Argos please. Richard.
Hi Rick, sorry only just seen your question and of course I don't mind you asking!
I bought the Everlast EV7000 at £299 (£8.95 delivery which requires two men cos it is quite heavy!). It only took five days and I got to pick the day and time. I chose this particular one because it has a pneumatic thingie to help fold up and put down again. Really simple to put together, only ten screws but it is very heavy to move on your own unless you have the muscles, of course!
Thank scrobbitty, good advice.
Hi Rick
From my experience buying a treadmill will be a great investment for your health. Like scrobity I bought mine from Argos as there was a good sale on at the time. My whole family is putting it to very good use, my daughter runs on it, my wife joggs on it, my son rests his pint on it and I walk on it, even the cats sit on it.
The one we have bought cost around £400.00 pounds and does far more than I need. Its speed settings start at .6 MPH and goes up to 10 MPH and you can adjust the incline setting easily as you go along if you want to make it more difficult. After starting off quite slow I now manage to hold 2.5 MPH for 30 mins on 8 liters of oxygen. This model caters for all levels and may be more than you need if its only you who is going to use it.
Its great to be able to exercise without dressing up for the outdoors beforehand which is enough to put most of us off. Now I exercise in my tracky bottoms and T shirt with some good music to keep me company.
Of course when the weather allows, normal outdoor walking will take its place most of the time but I can see the whole family benefiting from this investment to a healthier life.
By the way I don't work for Argos and there may be better place's to buy from.
Tony Hope I have helped you in some way.
I am watching you watching them rick! Let me know how you get on. x
Still thinking about it, don't hold your breath Toci. x
