My wife has COPD but manages to control it thanks to the wonderful doctors at Grantham hospital. However, since my wifes father died (also a COPD sufferer) in January she has had some very bad nights. She sleeps but makes a noise from her nose and the back of her throat. It's similar to snoring but it isn't and is much louder and sounds sometimes as if she has a build up of fluid at the back of her throat. Does anyone else suffer (or has suffered) from this as it would be nice to sleep at night. We currently take turns to sleep but I don't half miss my cuddles.

Night noise

my husband has emphysema and fibrosis, he has very noisy nights but he sleeps through them mostly whereas I don't. He sort of gives little grunts, and groans, ( not of passion I may add ), and his breathing is rapid and raspy, taking turns to sleep sounds like a good idea, though he sleeps most of the day as well, don't know if that answers your question.

Hi all repliers, Thank you for all of your kind replies. It's nice to know you're not alone and that others are willing to help where they can. We did try the extra pillows last night and it partly worked which was a nice surprise as we had tried this a few weeks ago and it made no difference then. I'll show Julie the last two replies from "Stitch" when she awakes and answer these later. Thanks to all. Fred the Ted
