Hi Gordon ,yes its a good read now with the BMA going against atos the government must start to look at why such a body has.

I am expecting to be turned down for my claim of DLA as most of the posters on here have been, so i haven't had the pleasure of meeting them yet .

If you are going to claim for DLA or ESA then reading and downloading everything you can find out about copd will help you .

ATOS are just a corparation that collects 100million pounds a year from the tax payer there so called doctors are being suspended for improper conduct i wont link this as i don't want to get the BLF forum in to trouble but google it whats happening up and down the country with atos is quite scary.

I think it's funny that ATOS staff are going on strike because of low pay! The company aren't just screwing people on benefits they're doing it to their own staff.

Certainly by getting rid of ATOS asap. They are making so many wrong decisions Too many of their decisions are being overturned on appeal. By the DWP's own figures before ATOS DLA was the benefit with the lowest rate of fraud, 0.5 in fact - much lower than the sensational stories in the press would have you believe. You have to sort out the minority - and it is a minority - of false claiments of course, but it must be done in a way not to frighten or penalise the majority genuine claiments who have enough to deal with with their health issues as it is.

I used to work for the department of work and pensions and they use ATOS. I found them ok but they emphasised that any adjustments etc. must be subject to 'business needs'.

This is exactly what they are doing now - the Government gives them targets to meet. So it is not 'patient led' but Government led instead. All the government is trying to do is save money and spread their idiology around sickness. I read an atricle recently saying that 38 pc of all appeals are accepted so carry on appealing. x

hi, Atos are a law unto themselves!! But then the dwp doesnt have to take notice of the medical assessment anyway i was declared fit for work after a medical which i am appealing ive been told it will take approx 9 months for my appeal and in the mean time i am getting the basic amount of esa which is £71 a week this means that i will have to move house - again - i moved into a ground floor flat a year ago to make life a bit easier for me but i dont get all the rent paid so have to pay about £50 a month towards it -- i only just managed before - impossible on £71 ! On top of that the letter says i may have to attend work based interviews!! I agree the system needs an overhaul but attacking the ill and disabled isnt the way to go about it. I`m fed up of fighting all the time and certainly could do without all this extra stress!

Hi Tyran , This is just the sort of situation that makes the whole business wicked , people who have a difficult time finding a liveable lifestyle have their routine and basic needs turned upside down and their very core shaken by bullyboy tactics , i sincerely hope you don't have to move but if you do then i hope it is for the better xxxx Dinny xxxx

hi dinnyrayner, thanks for your concern, i wrote another blog after that one called fantastic friday, on friday 13th july i recieved a letter from the dwp saying they had overturned the decision and put me in the support group so i wouldnt have to go to appeal!!! I cant tell you how relieved i was but i did burst into tears!!! i`d applied to go on a housing association list and was accepted so i am now bidding for a bungalow -- no luck so far but i will keep trying, my flat is great but the shower is over the bath and i`m struggling to climb into the bath especially as my ankles and feet are now swollen most of the time so a wet room would be ideal. If i move now it will save any problems in the future and with a bit of luck it will be my last move wish me luck !!!! take care sandra x
