Does COPD come on suddenly after a flu virus?
I was finally tested for COPD as they couldnt get my asthma under control, they never bothered to test me with all the flu, pneumonia viruses and chest infections i was having even though i was and still am, virtually living on antibiotics from end aug until about nov/dec, then from about april through to june,
Hello, my husband was treated for asthma for many years, until after several chest infections, was sent for tests for lung cancer, which was negative but when copd was first mentioned. This was almost 3 years ago. Only after the 2nd time in hospital this year was he diagnosed as having ipf as well as emphysema. The dr then told him to stop taking 2 of his regular medications as they were specifically for asthma, which he didn't have. Like stitch, asthma is no longer mentioned, we could ironically say, " hey, hes cured"
Hi Stitch . as I understand it, there is no rule about being smoke-free except for transplants - though majority of medics agree that some treatments be refused, they shouldn't currently refuse.
ohmygod, is all I can say - some people act as if they running things rather than being our 'servants' that providers of services paid through taxes ! yes, would be interesting to know how they decide and whether they really have that power.
It is my GP that says I have COPD. He has clearly never smoked ! I used to smoke about 5-10 cigs a day, more addicted to the chewing gum. I could breath fine before I gave up and that was in October last year. Since then I have been having really bad breathing problems. Almost tempted to start smoking in the hope I may be able to breath again !
