thank you everyone for replying , I’ve just phoned the doctors and told receptionist I am still poorly and coughing up green gunk, she just said I’ll prescribe some more antibiotic . I’m astounded she didn’t say I need to speak to a doctor or anything. Where do I go from here.

update pneumonia

OMG ! If that was truly a receptionist you spoke to she and the practice should be reported NOW!
You need proper medical assistance and no receptionist is qualified or licensed to prescribe drugs.
Call back and insist on an appointment with a GP. Your pneumonia obviously has not resolved and should be treated properly now.
Honestly, I would ring 111, tell them how you are still feeling, what the reception at your gp's has said and insist they get you a same day appointment either at your gp's or at a local walk in centre, you need to be seen, today, and that is not dependent on your gp receptionists input 😖 as previous posts a receptionist has no authority in diagnosing and prescribing, do what i do and go around her by ringing 111 😉 you need to be physically seen by someone qualified, today, x good luck, let us know how you get on, lots of good wishes x N
You need a GP appointment now, not a receptionist prescribing antibiotics. Please don’t wait.
Hoping you feel better soon….xxx
2013mayo did you manage to get seen by someone? Hope you are getting the help you need, let us know how you are doing x Nicola
Agree with all the comments here. Please do update us. X
a and e if you feel really unwell ..take care
Terrible..
Very Important that you should take a sputum sample into the practice with you today
You need to know what bug is causing this prolonged infection /what you are brewing ..so that you can be switched over quickly if you are taking the wrong antibiotics
I was in a similar situation some years ago. My doctor actually told me my lungs were clear and was going to send me for some other scans, which had nothing to do with lungs, as my crp was 265. I wasn't given antibiotics. My husband got so fed up with me being ill, he took me to the hospital at the weekend to see if they would give me antibiotics. They admitted me to hospital and told me I had pneumonia, although I was heading towards the end of the infection. My temperature had been sky high - it felt ok at 38.5, so I'm not sure how high it did go. They put me on intravenous antibiotics and oral ones. My point is, that due to the delay, my lungs became significantly more damaged. You really do need some urgent care!
I quite agree with everyone. Poor you, having to make a fuss, when you probably feel least like doing it.
I’m so sorry your GP’s sound like mine & it’s not good enough. If you can’t get past reception then maybe 111 is the way forward. They can make you an appointment to be seen face to face. It may be that the GP decides not to sign the prescription till he sees you. I hope so. x
I hope you have got some proper help now
