Chewing Gum - best choice(s)!

I'm sure I've read post(s) on Health Unlocked where some folks who suffer with acid reflux say that chewing gum at times during the day helps them somewhat.

I'm not a user of chewing gum at the moment but I'm always looking for options and choices to help with dealing with reflux. When considering chewing gum it would seem sugar free would be the preferred choice. However there are many choices out there. Some have artificial ingredients and some of that might be untoward, many are mint flavoured and I'm always reading that one should avoid mint if suffering with acid reflux!

Would others on the group mind sharing with me any experiences, successes etc with me on this please?

Many thanks and kind regards.

Hi, I used to chew gum all the time. I took it up to stop a bad habit I'd had since childhood (chewing the inside of my mouth), it worked along with will power. Most times I've used it since have exacerbated my acid relux badly therefore I avoid it like the plague. I guess any chewing starts the digestive process and that means creating stomach acid.

I do find mint helps settle an upset stomach, but I have to stay upright after taking it as it relaxes the digestive system, including the valve between the stomach and the oesophagus.

Based on my responses - looks like perhaps I didn't read about chewing gum as a means of easing acid reflux!

Best to you.

Kind regards.
