Lawn mowing

Dear Readers

As a busted lung person, mowing the lawn is one of those jobs which I TRY to do. Fortunately I own a pocket size garden, so although strenuous, I do feel virtuous afterwards.

Unfortunately my little old hover mower has given up the ghost. I need to get a new lawn mower, but the choice not seems endless, wheels, no wheels, rotary, hover etc.

All I need is a small easy to manage mower that cuts the grass and doesn't see me laying prostate on the lawn gasping and exhausted Any ideas what I should be looking for... ?

My situation is similar to yours. I have a GTech battery driven mower. Very light, very easy to use. Not cheap (can’t remember how much mine cost as I bought it a few years ago) but does the job.

Thanks for the reply, I will investigate. Its so hard to buy a lawnmower thats exactly right, as you cant try before you buy.

I have a hover mower- ideally I 'd like a smaller one. It doesn't collect the grass. I leave that for the worms to recycle.

if you can splurge then get the robot one but what to do about the cuttings .

get rid of lawn and have a gravel garden with plants to suit the dry conditions. costs too much to pay someone to mow grass.. a neighbour who lives in the terrace here does 6 at one go, but is leaving and what do we do then ? all the lawns are togethe as is the hedge and i have always done that b ut cannot now as hip is protesting ,waiting for operation a nd that can be years, unless i go privat e and i that goes against the grain, as i worked for the nhs for 40 years and always believed in the nhs as it was once .

To be honest I think one of those wee robot lawnmowers would be great and you could get a bit of exercise doing something else. Having said that I've no idea whether they are any good or how much they cost...they just look so handy!
