A couple of weeks ago my repeat prescriptions was delivered , instead of sending me Salamol I was sent Ventolin, I didn't query it as I knew they were the same drug but surprisingly I felt better with the Ventolin than I ever have with the Salamol which I put down to the drug reaching my lungs with a more forceful propellant, previously I was never convinced at times with the Salamol now just got to convince my GP to change my prescription.

Better with ventolin

A few years ago my gp, as part of a money saving campaign, changed my Ventolin to Salamol. It tasted awful and didn’t work as well, so I was changed back to Ventolin.
I wish you all the luck with that as they are trying to stop them because of the gas in them. I've been telling my doctor over and over that it works much better but they just palm you off. Was given ventolin accuhaler (powder) but it's not the same. I'm sure there are other gas guzzlers out there they could get rid of first 🙄. We only rely on it, pathetic isn't it.
do you use a spacer as this helps it reach the lungs better
Wow that's brilliant 👏 👌 😀. I suspect supplies of Salamol are tricky at the moment hence the ventolin. You could have an auction, they're like gold dust!
surely all the gas in asthma and copd inhalers didn't even have a negligible effect on the atmosphere
Good luck. my doctor changed me back no probs. i hope yours is as amenable.
My GP has changed me back to ventolin as I could not get on with Salamol
I’ve recently managed to get changed back to ventolin too thanks to my fab surgery pharmacist. The medics still won’t accept that some of us get on better with ventolin though 😊
I’d resorted to buying it for £10 from an online NHS recognised pharmacy before I got it changed back. Only the price of a standard prescription really.
Hope you get permanently sorted out.
They just wont have it will they? I am one of the lucky ones whose doctor listens! xx
I was told some years ago by a Respiratory Professor who dealt with difficult asthma to always insist on ventolin inhalers and nebules and have done ever since. A pharmacist recently explained to me about an extra ingredient in the ventolin nebules as opposed to the generic ones and that's probably why they suited me better. Just wish they would bring back the 5mg ventolin nebules. The generic ones certainly don't help me as much as the ventolin ones did but it is a battle sometimes trying to get some Doctors to listen to the fact that you know what works better for you. I'm sure that's why I suffer from alot more asthma attacks and end up with more hospital admissions. Would love to go back to the Professor and get his thoughts on it but sadly he is one of the good guys we have lost to Australia.
